Food Review: Lucky Seb’s

Upon arriving at this establishment, my friends and I were welcomed to a warm, ambient environment with a slight modern elegance. Lucky Seb’s is a fusion restaurant well known for its dumplings and their delectable handhelds hot off their grill.

You can find this restaurant on the corner of 23rd and Iowa, and it is only open during the week from Tuesday to Saturday, 11 am to 9 pm. The décor in this establishment did well to create an inviting space with dim lighting and gold accents all around the room to compliment the bar, as well as their teal-painted walls. Despite entering through the wrong door, we managed to make our way to the cash register, where we placed our orders before taking our seats.

My friends and I took a while to scan the menu, but even upon deciding on a certain dish our indecisiveness would kick in. As eager as we were, I decided on partaking in the Pork Dumpling in Chili Oil, where one of my other companions chose to try the Masala Chicken Dumplings. Beyond placing our orders, we ran back to put in an order of Kimchi fries, which was the best last-minute decision of the night.

The Kimchi Fries comprised spicy kimchi, cilantro, green onion, and what seemed to be a sriracha mayo sauce drizzled on the fries. The flavor from these ingredients shined through to create a good balance between spicy, tangy, and savory flavors; between the three of my friends, we could not finish the whole dish.

As soon as the star of the show arrived, our dumplings, we made sure to take pictures to showcase that our cravings were fulfilled. The Pork in Chili Oil was a pleasant experience as I was welcomed with steam wafting off my plate, but nonetheless this dish exceeded my expectations in reference to flavor. Presentation wise, there were 8 dumplings that were doused in what seemed to comprise of a savory rice wine vinegar and soy sauce mixture; in which there were garnishing’s of green onions and sesame seeds.

If you find yourself looking for a good place to casually chat with your friends over some great food, Lucky Seb’s is the place to come together for that weekly recap!
