Haskell Indian Nations University’s volleyball team lost to the Kansas Wesleyan Coyotes in three sets, 25-18, 25-18, 25-18. Haskell sits at seven wins with two matches remaining before the conference championship. A win in either match would give Haskell more victories than last season.

The first set featured seven ties and five lead changes. with Tressa Jim getting three kills, before the Coyotes climbed out to their lead. Haskell would get it within two multiple times but it wouldn’t matter as the Coyotes would take set one 25-18.

The second set featured two ties, one coming from a Maya Dalgai ace. Haskell stayed within three points early but fell behind and lost 25-18. Haskell would quickly fall behind and lose the set 25-18.
Haskell opened the third set with a 6-4 lead on kills by Dalgai and Sandra St. Clair. The Coyotes rallied to take the lead before Haskell responded with a run of its own getting a 12-11 lead with a kill from Jaspen Ellenwood and Mya Dalgai. Haskell would keep it close but fall behind losing the set 25-18 and the match 3-0.

“I think we did really well starting off and finishing, but we did fall short, I think because of some unexpected problems pre-game,” Alaina Dugi said.
Haskell will host the Hesston College Larks at 7 p.m. Oct. 27 at Coffin for senior night and its final regular-season match.
