Hello, my friends and my relatives. My name is Tara Roanhorse and I am serving my second term as vice president of the Indian Leader. In this role, I am passionate about highlighting the issues that matter to Indigenous communities and fostering greater understanding through journalism. Alongside my work at the newspaper, I am a STEM communication intern for NASA. I use my skills in social media, script writing, and publications to promote science and technology to diverse audiences.
As a junior at the School of Business, I am committed to my studies while actively engaging with my community. I plan to pursue a Master’s degree in Indigenous People’s Law at the University of Oklahoma, equipping myself with the knowledge and skills necessary to advocate for Indigenous rights and address the legal challenges we face.
I believe in the power of storytelling and strive to give a voice to Indian Country. My goal is to share narratives often overlooked or misrepresented by non-native media. Through my work, I hope to inspire others and create a more inclusive dialogue that honors the rich culture and history of Indigenous peoples. Ahéhee’.
