Three Sets of Domination at Coffin

Haskell Volleyball hosted its home opener against the Graceland Yellowjackets and dominated, winning in a clean three sets. With a clear advantage, the varsity team jumped out to an 8-1 lead and never looked back. Haskell won set one 25-15 with two aces from Jaspen Ellenwood and three kills from Mya Dalgai.

Set two was much closer, with Haskell’s biggest lead being 15-8 and the only tie of all three sets at 3-3. Haskell won set two 25-22 with 5 kills from both Tressa Jim and Dalgai. This set came down to the wire with Gracewood being within two to three points at all points once both teams were around 20 points. This game helped build the atmosphere in Coffin as it started to get loud.

Set three built on that fan momentum as Haskell jumped out to a 5-0 lead with two blocks and one kill from Dalgai. Haskell won set three 25-14, which also won them the game in a clean sweep of all three sets. Jim finished with four kills, with both Ellenwood and Nevaeh Straley getting two kills.

Haskell now sits at 2-7, with its next home games being the Haskell Invite on September 4 and 5. The stat leaders were Jim with 10 kills, Alaina Dugi and Ellenwood with 2 Aces, Dalgai with 5 blocks, Ellenwood with 14 assists, and Dugi with 6 digs.
