Haskell Indian Nations University played the University of Saint Mary (Kan.) in a doubleheader at home on April 8, 2026, losing both games. The first game went extra innings, 5-6, and the second ended in a run-rule loss, 0-8.
The first game started with Saint Mary getting a two-run lead before Haskell responded with one of its own when Chasley Robert walked to score Ariana Munoz. This would make the score 1-2, which would hold until the bottom of the third. Haskell would take the lead for the last time. Paizley Aldrich hit a double, scoring Abrianna Herrera and Abrielle Herrera before a pitching change the inning with Haskell up 3-2.
Saint Mary regained the lead in the fifth inning, 3-4, and added another run in the seventh making it 3-5. In a two-out rally, Haskell tied the game with Robert hitting a groundball to score Mariah Graves and Abrianna Herrera. Saint Mary would take a one-run lead into the bottom of the eighth inning where they’d also have a new pitcher. This new arm left Haskell scoreless, which ended the game 5-6.

The second game was a 5-inning 0-8 run-rule loss, the minimum number of innings and runs to achieve such a feat. Haskell reached base three times with an error getting Abrielle Herrera on base, followed by a line drive from Robert at the bottom of the second inning, which was their only sign of life. This would be Abrielle Herreras’ last appearance as she would be taken out of the game with an apparent hand injury.
Aldrich would get a hit in the fifth inning, but it was simply too late as the next batter up struck out swinging and ended the game 0-8, their 20th run-rule loss of the year.
Their next game is at home and is on April 16, 2026, against Kansas Christian College at 1 and 3 p.m.
Head Coach Jolona Shield-Dzakic on Abrielle Herrera’s possible return,
“Abrielle has been working hard through her injury, and we are continuing to evaluate her progress day by day,” Shield-Dzakic said. “Our priority is making sure she is fully healthy before returning, and we’re hopeful to have her back soon, but we will continue to take the necessary steps to ensure she’s ready when she returns.”

Haskell has twelve games remaining on the schedule, 10 of those being at home.
“We’re emphasizing execution, confidence, and playing complete games so we can build positive momentum moving forward,” Shield-Dzakic said.
Shield-Dzakic also emphasized the importance of fan support.
“Our players feed off the energy and support,” she said, “that kind of environment can make a big difference in helping us stay motivated and competitive.”
