Haskell Volleyball finished their regular season with Senior night win over the Hesston Larks in four sets. Haskell honored seniors Brianna Mitchell, Tressa Jim, Darrilyn Tessay and Jaspen Ellenwood.
Set one saw Haskell and the Larks battle back and forth which saw seven ties and a late Haskell climb to win. Haskell jumped out to a 5-2 lead with a kill from Maya Dalgai but would fall behind quickly. Haskell would be down 11-18 before a steep comeback even with a timeout from the Larks which would see Haskell take a 20-19 lead off a block from Mecca Goldsberry and Dalgai. With the set tied 22-22 Haskell would take the final three points to win the set with two kills from Sandra St. Clair.
The second set would see Haskell lose in a non-competitive manner as the Larks would jump out to an early lead and keep it all the way as Haskell would lose 17-25.
Set three was a bounce back set for Haskell with them getting a 5-1 lead off an Ellenwood ace. Haskell would lose the lead but battle to keep the game within one with five ties and four lead changes from 10-10 to 15-14 as Haskell would break through with another Ellenwood ace. Haskell would keep that lead till then end as they’d take the set 25-18.
Haskell would be in a quick 4-7 hole in set four before taking a 9-8 lead with help from two kills by Jim. Haskell would keep the lead to the end winning the set 25-15 and the game 3-1.
As this game being the last game of Haskell’s regular season, the next time Haskell would play is Nov 12-14 in the CAC Conference Tournament at either the Florida College Falcons or Simpson University Red Hawks. Right now the location is to be determined for Haskell so make sure to look out for an announcement if you plan on attending to watch Haskell.
Haskell finishes the regular season this year with an overall record of 8-27. Their in conference record finishes at 4-3, home record finishes 5-9, away record finishes 2-10 and neutral record finishes 1-8. Even though these numbers look grim they are an improvement from last season.
