Haskell softball opened its home schedule March 21, 2026. It was a double header vs. Hesston College, and they lost both. These games were the first to be played on Haskell’s new home field.
The first pitch on the new field was thrown by Coach Tanner, the first Haskell softball coach. The game started poorly as Hesston jumped out to a 5-run lead in the first inning. Haskell responded with two of its own, and that would be the final time they scored. Haskell lost by run rule 2-10, with Grace Greenwood getting on base three times and Abrianna Herrera getting a triple.
Before the second game, the inaugural 1998 Haskell softball team was honored with players and Coach Tanner being given goodie bags, a jersey they never got to wear, and a permanent reminder who made softball possible placed in the concourse.
The second game started with Haskell getting the lead thanks to a sacrifice fly by Herrera to score Greenwood. They quickly lost the lead as Hesston put up 7 in the top of the second to put Haskell in near run rule territory. Haskell responded with a run in the bottom after Thena Lee laid down a sacrifice bunt for Paizley Aldrich to make it 2-8. In the third inning, Hesston put up one run.
Haskell then rallied to take the lead back, making it 9-8 with the whole lineup getting a chance at the plate. Neither team scored in the fourth inning, but Hesston then put in their third pitcher of the game. Hesston scored one run in the fifth inning, and Haskell would get none to make the score 9-9. The score would remain 9-9 until the top of the ninth inning, where Hesston scored 3 runs. Haskell would add a run on a Chasely Roberts driving Abrielle Herrera home, but it wasn’t enough as they lost 10-12 and finished the day 0-2.
