Career Services Offers One-on-One Help Ahead of Entrepreneur Summit

Knowing whether your resume fits a prospective job or after a long gap between interviews and not sure what you need to work on can be difficult and there is conflicting information online for what to do in preparation. Many students may not know where to start and it can be overwhelming especially with so much on the line when it comes to a job interview. Fortunately, Haskell’s Career Services held a career prep event in the library for all students to attend. In this preparation fair students could get their resumes reviewed, edited or created from scratch and tailored to a specific field of interest. The event served as a valuable tool for students seeking jobs or preparing to enter their field of interest with their best foot forward and have their resume to show their accomplishments accurately and professionally.

Additionally career services had a special guest, Meg McCollister,  chief operating officer of the midland group and former EPA Region 7 administrator, prepared students for the upcoming Entrepreneur Summit and elevator pitch contest, where students will prepare a 1 minute pitch of an idea or business to a panel of investors and an audience.  McCollister offered much needed advice and also a down-to-earth perspective for students who she spent one on one time with.

McCollister shared,  “I love talking to the students. I could talk to them all day. I enjoy hearing their perspectives and thoughts on things they are interested in.” She was very busy speaking to the individual students with their business ideas and all those who wanted to get some help with their interview skills and see what they could work on or even just someone to bounce ideas off of. McCollister, Angelina Adams, and other Career Services staff were happy to help in  preparing others for the future of their careers and accomplishments. Don’t miss the BIPOC Entrepreneur Summit November 12th-13th which will be held in the Haskell auditorium and see who has the best pitch for their idea!
