Haskell Women’s Basketball Opens Season With Ring Ceremony and Home Victory

Haskell Women’s Basketball

LAWRENCE, Kan. — On Thursday, Oct. 23, 2025, the Haskell women’s basketball team, coaches and support staff were recognized and received their 2025 CAC championship rings at the Coffin Sports Complex.

The ceremony took place before the team’s season opener against Peru State. The Haskell Indians captured last year’s CAC championship by defeating Northern New Mexico, 57–52, earning an NAIA national tournament berth.

That same championship season and Coach Adam Strom’s leadership and belief in his team earned him the NAIA Coach of Character Award.

In the home opener, Peru State led 31–25 at halftime, but Haskell rallied in the second half to win 74–69. The game drew a strong turnout, with fans joining in the “Bling the New Season” theme, wearing Native jewelry to show support for the team.

Every player on the Haskell Indians women’s basketball team continues to represent her tribe and school with dedication, sportsmanship, and heart.

Haskell’s top performers of the game were Ivy Fox and Ona Dauphinais. Fox scored 32 points with eight assists and two steals, while Dauphinais added 16 points, five assists and three steals. For Peru State, Erison Vonderschmidt posted 21 points and 12 rebounds with one block, while Kylie Diaz added 17 points, 12 rebounds and two assists.
