On Wednesday, October 8, 2025, Haskell Indian Nations University celebrated Homecoming week with a round dance at the Haskell Powwow Grounds from 7 to 9 p.m. Hosted by the Haskell Powwow Club, the evening brought students, alumni, and community members together in celebration, song, and unity.
A highlight of the night was the presence of our Māori relatives, who joined in the celebration and performed a powerful haka — a traditional Māori dance that expresses strength, honor, and community. Their performance served as a moving reminder of the shared connections among Indigenous peoples across the world.
The round dance, traditionally a social and healing gathering, filled the grounds with laughter, songs, and drumbeats as attendees came together to honor Haskell’s spirit and community. The event captured the essence of Homecoming — reconnecting with one another, celebrating cultural pride, and strengthening the bonds that make Haskell a home for so many.
