LAWRENCE, Kan.- Honoring victims and survivors of the federal Indian boarding school, students at Haskell Indian Nations University began their Day of Remembrance with a sacred fire ceremony. Following prayer songs and an invocation, students and community members wearing orange shirts for #OrangeShirtDay gathered for a silent remembrance walk across Lawrence. The powerful event honored the legacy of resilience, acknowledged those who suffered, and served as a commitment to ensuring that every child matters.
