Through The Eyes of Travis Tafolla
Since arriving here at Haskell, I have met countless people who uplift me and encourage me to be a better person. I’ve been attending Haskell for about 2 years now, and it’s been quite the experience. When I first arrived here, it was challenging being away from my home and family. However, as I spent more time here at Haskell, I realized that I have family here as well. In a way, we all have something in common, and that’s what makes this school so special. It’s always great to hear the stories that people have to tell, and experiences that they’ve been through. I’ve learned numerous things about other tribes, reservations, languages, music, art, traditional practices, and other cultural traditions. Being here at Haskell has given me a better understanding of my culture and broadened my perspective on Native Americans as a whole.
I came to college to learn about cameras and explore my career options within the photography and videography work field. After my first year of school, I now know how to shoot sports photography, make short films, and edit using different software. There are also times where students book me for photography sessions for things such as graduation photos or social media pictures. After working with the Haskell Women’s Basketball team and Cross-Country team, I was offered a job to be a content creator for Haskell. As I continue to work here on campus, I hope to produce more videos and photos that people will value & appreciate. My main goal is to make people happy and to produce work that will be admired for many years to come. The love that I have for the Haskell community runs very deep, as I wouldn’t be where I am today without everyone here.
