Yá’át’ééh, my name is Trina Tsinnie, I am from the Navajo Nation tribe. I live in a little village on the reservation called Lechee, but Lechee is next to a town that is about 5 miles away called Page, Arizona. I moved to Lawrence, Kansas in 2015. I started attending Haskell in 2020 because I was bedridden for a couple years and I need something to keep me going in life.
I was later diagnosed with ADHD and Autism along with social anxiety disorder. Haskell helped me get diagnosed and attending Haskell allowed me to overcome my anxiety. My health keeps declining and I was diagnosed with Rheumatoid Arthritis, Fibromyalgia, Postural Orthostatic Tachycardia Syndrome, and Anemia. I struggle with my chronic Illness everyday. My dream to become a bookseller as this helps me overcome the pain.
I am majoring in Business administration and I would like to open a bookstore then a publishing company. I really enjoy writing for the Indian Leader and as well as being a host for the KJHK radio station during the Haskell Hour. Being part of the Indian Leader helped me make new friends and to be more open and talkative. I’m also the President of the Haskell Book Club which is a lot of fun. These clubs on campus help me overcome my illness by keeping my mind busy and happy.
When I have time to myself, I enjoy reading, playing video games like Animal Crossing, Stardew Valley, FFIV, Zelda, and Mario Cart. I love art, I love to paint with acrylic, oil, watercolor, and gouache, animation. I play the piano, saxophone, and Ocarina. I also love to knit, sew, crochet and I’m currently learning to weave Thanks for getting to know me better,
Trina Tsinnie- The Haskell Indian Leader Secretary
