Haskell’s Gamma Delta Pi Chapter plans to offer a children’s storytime at 6 PM Thursday, February 15, 2024, at Tommaney Library.
When asked why Gamma Delta Pi is hosting the event, Sorority Clan Mother Sophia Boldwarrior said, “We aim to get in touch with our inner child during the book reading event for Gamma Delta Pi. I hope this event not only brings the community together and gets Indigenous babies excited about reading but also encourages our potential new members to look inward and nurture their own inner child!”
During this event, families can bring their children to hear a variety of books from Indigenous authors. The goal of this event is to give back to the community, as well as showcase Indigenous stories and authors to the next generation. In the past, Gamma Delta Pi has offered snacks and juice pouches to those in attendance to enjoy at the event.
“I hope it helps provide a sense of identity and community because families are trusting us to read to their children and have an impact on them, and that’s not something that we take lightly,” said Denise Frazier, Gamma Delta Pi Vice President.
