Haskell Women’s Basketball Team Qualify for 2022 National Tournament

A press conference and bracket reveal celebrated the teams’ success for the season and hope for the national tournament.

Transcript: In their first appearance in six years, the Haskell women’s basketball team has qualified for the 2022 NAIA (National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics) National Tournament. A Press Conference and Bracket Reveal Party highlighted the team’s success and hope for the journey.

Head Coach Adam Strom spoke about the team’s strengths and weaknesses over the season.

Strom: “We struggle defending the three-point shot… we pride ourselves on trying to take away the paint. We have two really strong captains – we have three captains but two seniors – Tiana Guillory and Noni Thomas. They’re kind of our bookends; they really keep us stable.”

Guillory: “Our biggest strengths are pushing the ball and making the game faster. We’re really good at pressing and speeding up teams who like to slow down their half court offense.”

In the last event of the evening, the team signed posters for their supporters.

For their first game, they will travel to Crestview Hills, Kentucky to play against Thomas Moore University this coming Friday at 12pm central.

Good luck to our Haskell Women’s Basketball team!

Strom: “This is a testament to our hard work that has been in place since September [of 2021]. This was our expectation [to make the tournament] at the beginning of the year. We’re just going to see where it takes us next.”
