The Indian Leader staff writers swept categories and won awards at the 2020 National Native Media Awards which were hosted by the Native American Journalist Association (NAJA). The awards were announced earlier today which honored Haskell Indian Nations University’s (HINU) student newspaper “The Indian Leader” with the distinction of First Place in General Excellence in Print for overall student coverage.
Individual writers and articles were also awarded—staff writers swept Print / Online publication categories for both the Best Editorials and Best News Stories. In total, individual writers and photographers for the Indian Leader won eleven awards. A virtual ceremony will be held at 3 PM CST on October 15 via Zoom.
